Yup...another new story...Mask of the Cat Goddess.

This here is its protagonist, Bast. For those who know their egyptian gods, Bast is a sun goddess, as she is in this story...however, after being caught in a situation that made it seems she had betrayed the other gods, she was exiled, and sealed within an ankh...several thousand years later, she is re-awakened when the ankh is in the hands of average (but emo) boy, Yoru Takishida.

The story follows the sunny-natured Bast, Yoru (who, by possessing the ankh, shares some of her powers), Hanako (Yoru's nervous female friend and egyptology enthusiast) and Kody (Yoru's cat, granted the power of speech by Bast).

Joining the fray is Bastet...Bast's split personality and polar opposite, who is awakened within Bast early on in the story. Bast may be a warrior of the sun...but upon sunfall, this darker heroine awakens, shrouded in the dark of night lit only by the moon that empowers her.

Although Bast is glad to be a part of normal life, away from the gods, all is not quite forgotten...Anubis, the true traitor among the gods knows Bast has returned, as does Bast's more violent sun-goddess replacement, Sekhmet...who does not want her to regain her old position.

But all of the gods possess a symbolic mask...and Bast's could hold the answer to clearing her name, as well as unveiling Anubis as the true traitor before his plot to bring down the circle of gods can be completed. But the mask was taken after her exile...and time is running out to find it again.


The story is, on the whole, brighter than my past emo-fest plotlines, and is driven more by its plot, rather than its concept (like some of my past storylines). I'm really seeing potential in this one, so you'll hopefully be seeing a lot more of Bast and the oter MotCG characters over the coming weeks.
